Can I put candles/incense/charcoal in this?

Yes, with a “but”. Make sure you practice common sense: surfaces near candles can become HOT. Incense can fall off and BURN things. I recommend that if you use any of my cauldrons for burning charcoal that you first place a layer of sand for the charcoal to sit on to help protect the ceramic.

Can I put this in the microwave?

Does it have gold or silver on it? NO! You may NOT! I use real gold and silver lustres, they are metal, they do not like being microwaved. Most of my pottery is what’s known as “low-fire”. This means there is a higher degree of moisture in it than say, a commercially available coffee mug. You can put them in the microwave, but the moisture inside will also cause the piece to become quite hot to the touch.

Can I put this in the dishwasher?

Repeat after me: “Handmade, handwash.” You have purchased a handmade piece of pottery, not cheapo junk from IKEA. Treat it right! While an occasional run through the dishwasher won’t hurt your pottery, over time the heat and harsh detergents can etch the glossy finish, wear off mother-of-pearl lusters, or knock pieces together causing them to chip.
